SUMMARY:AARCH Society African American History Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Explore Frederick’s African American history during a guided walking tour through the historic All Saints Street neighborhood. \nThe AARCH Society African American History Walking Tour begins at the AARCH Heritage Center. \nAARCH guides will share stories about the neighborhood’s people\, landmarks\, culture\, and lasting influence. All Saints Street served as the center of Frederick’s African American community until the early 1960s. \nGuests will learn about the community’s history while walking through All Saints Street and nearby areas. \nThe AARCH Society African American History Walking Tour lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Tour groups remain small\, allowing guests to enjoy a more personal learning experience. \nEach tour allows up to 15 participants. The route covers fairly even walking surfaces. Organizers will hold the tour during light rain or sunshine. Guests will receive an email if severe weather forces a cancellation. \nTour highlights include: \n\nFrederick’s African American history\nThe cultural importance of All Saints Street\nStories from the surrounding neighborhood\nHistoric sites and community landmarks\nA guided walk led by AARCH Society volunteers\n\nThe AARCH Society African American History Walking Tour welcomes teens\, adults\, members\, and community groups. \nGuests may not record video or audio during the tour. \n  \nLEARN MORE!

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate 40 years of visual arts education at the Ancients & Aliens Gala in Downtown Frederick! The Delaplaine Arts Center will host this playful fundraiser on September 26. \nGuests can enjoy great food\, music\, dancing\, an open bar\, and an online silent auction. \nThe Ancients & Aliens Gala will embrace prehistoric themes\, pseudoscience\, and the Delaplaine’s signature over-the-top style. \nFunds raised during the evening will support arts opportunities throughout the region. \nEvent highlights include: \n\nGreat food\nMusic and dancing\nAn open bar\nThemed decorations\nAn online silent auction\nGala-inspired artwork from local artists\nRecognition of the Delaplaine’s 40th anniversary\n\nThe online auction will open September 12 and feature 12-by-12-inch artworks from local artists. \nBidding will close at 9:15 p.m. during the gala. \nWinning bidders can collect their artwork during the event. \nThe Delaplaine will also offer pickup from September 28 through October 10. \nThe Ancients & Aliens Gala gives supporters a lively way to celebrate art and strengthen regional programming. \nSponsorship opportunities are also available and include tickets and event recognition. \n  \nREGISTER HERE!
