DESCRIPTION:This Frederick Speaker Series event features Walter Mosley. He is an acclaimed and prolific author whose body of work spans more than 60 books. His genres include mystery\, science fiction\, young adult\, nonfiction\, graphic novels\, and erotica. He is best known for the Easy Rawlins detective series. It gained widespread recognition with Devil in a Blue Dress\, later adapted into a feature film starring Denzel Washington. Mosley revisits the character in Gray Dawn\, scheduled for release on September 16\, 2025. \nMosley’s work extends beyond literature into film and television. He served as an executive producer and writer for FX’s Snowfall and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey on Apple TV+\, starring Samuel L. Jackson. His novel The Man in My Basement is being adapted into a Hulu thriller film starring Willem Dafoe and Corey Hawkins. His writing has appeared in The New York Times\, The New Yorker and Playboy. Additionally\, he has received a Grammy Award for his liner notes for a Richard Pryor compilation. \nKnown for his insight on race\, justice\, and American society\, Mosley draws from his personal background. He grew up in Los Angeles within a Black and Jewish household. He is also the founder of The Publishing Certificate Program at CUNY. This program works to expand access to publishing careers for underrepresented communities. \nThis presentation is part of the Frederick Speaker Series\, now in its 13th season. It is recognized for bringing world-class speakers to the Frederick area and engaging the community through meaningful discourse. DESCRIPTION:The MUDGIRL Run Washington\, DC 2026 is a weekend obstacle course event designed for women and girls\, combining physical challenges with a festival-style atmosphere. Participants navigate a series of obstacles across a muddy course and celebrate with post-race activities\, music and amenities. \nRegistration includes race access\, a headband\, wristband\, bag\, eye black and a finisher medal. Participants may register for Saturday or Sunday\, with multiple waves offered throughout each day. The minimum age to participate is seven years old\, and participants ages 7–13 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the race. \nSpectator tickets are available for purchase\, with free admission for children under 16. Parking is available on-site for a cash-only fee and bag drop service is offered for an additional charge. Rinsing stations and changing rooms are available for women following the race. \nTickets are nonrefundable\, though participant details and wave times may be transferred in advance at no cost.
