For more than 40 years\, this community tradition has filled Market Street and Carroll Creek Urban Park. \nThe festival began in 1983 after major renovations closed Market Street for several months. Mayor Ron Young launched the original celebration to welcome the community back downtown. The first festival attracted approximately 10\,000 attendees. \nToday\, the In The Streets Festival welcomes crowds of more than 75\,000 people. \nGuests can explore Frederick’s restaurants\, artists\, performers\, businesses\, and nonprofit organizations throughout the day.
