1. The Taste Makers Trail

They host premieres, film festivals, seminars, and casual viewings of all the great movies in 16 to 70mm and high-definition digital cinema video projection. Visit the historic tavern along the C&O Canal that now serves as the Great Falls National Park Visitors Center. Learn about the history of the towpath and take a walk or bike along this peaceful path by the river!
5. Spend The Night In a Historic Lockhouse
The C&O Canal Trust has restored and renovated 7 Lockhouses along the C&O Canal. Swains Lockhouse (or Lockhouse 21) in Montgomery County opened for guests to stay in 2019. Plumbing, electricity, and insulation were added to the house to make for a more comfortable, but still authentic stay!

Pike & Rose is a super cute and lively little place to shop, dine, and stay in Montgomery County. It is home to all your favorite retail stores and several amazing restaurants like Pinstripes! 7. Take In Glen Echo Park

Glen Echo was Clara Bartons’ home for the last 15 years of her life and now showcases and honors her dedication and concern for those less fortunate than herself. You can visit her home and partake in a guided tour at the Clara Barton Historial Site.

The Brookside Gardens is a 50-acre public garden display that has an Aquatic Garden, Azalea Garden, Butterfly Garden, Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Style Garden, and so many more. Spend the day wandering around and taking in the curation of these beautiful grounds.
10. Take a Bike Ride Down The Bethesda Trolley Trail
Take a walk or ride your bike down the Bethesda Trolley Trail and take in the beautiful views and changing leaves. This flat pathway makes for a casual afternoon of fun with the family or an exhilarating run to start your morning!
11. Walk Through Downtown Takoma Park
Downtown Takoma Park is a historic main street with the cutest local shops, Instagramable spots, and a Sunday farmers market. You can even walk from Maryland over to DC on the main street of town!

This 6,300-acre park extends along 14 scenic miles of Seneca Creek that leads into the Potomac River. The park offers lots of hiking, a tire park, picnic areas, boat rentals, and more to occupy you all day long.
