Events & Community Coordinator Wanted for Women’s Lifestyle Magazine

Sass Magazine, headquartered in Frederick, MD, is a dynamic women’s lifestyle and professional publication that has established itself as both a regional print magazine and a national online media source. Sass Studios, publishers of Sass Magazine, is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Events Coordinator and Community Outreach professional to join our growing team!

Reporting directly to the founder and owner of Sass Magazine, this part-time contractor position (approximately 20 hours per week) has the potential to grow into a full-time role for the right candidate. You’ll play a crucial role in connecting with subscribers, sponsors, VIP members, and event vendors, planning and executing events, and fostering relationships to enhance Sass’s impact and community.

This role is ideal for a proactive self-starter with a love for event planning, community engagement, and marketing. Candidate should be someone who is organized, thrives on juggling multiple projects, and a top-notch communicator, whether by email, phone, or in person.

If you’re a self-driven, quick-thinking individual who loves to connect, learn, and build a vibrant community of kick-ass women, this role is for you. We need a problem solver with a knack for multitasking and meeting deadlines—if that sounds like you, let’s talk! If meeting deadlines, handling multiple projects, or having clear communication isn’t your strong suit, this may not be the right fit.

The Fine Print:

  • On a day-to-day basis this is a WFH position, with a minimal average of 5-10 hours per month spent onsite planning or managing events.
  • This is a contracted position, so you will need your own computer and phone.
  • Experience with event planning, community outreach, and/or marketing is essential.
  • Approximately 20 hours per week, with room to expand based on performance.

Ready to make an impact? Join us at Sass Magazine and help grow a community that celebrates strong, inspired women!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning and Execution: Plan, organize, and run several Sass Magazine events each year, ensuring smooth coordination and a high-quality experience.
  • VIP Society Community Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for our VIP Society members, engaging them with updates, perks, and invitations.
  • Sass Choice Awards Coordination: Collaborate with nominees and winners of the Sass Choice Awards, handling all necessary communications and logistics.
  • Sponsorship Outreach: Identify and approach potential sponsors to secure event funding, managing relationships with sponsors throughout each event cycle.
  • Subscriber Database Management: Maintain our subscriber database, ensuring paid subscribers receive all benefits, updates, and exclusive content.
  • Community Outreach & Engagement: Actively connect with local businesses, influencers, and community leaders to foster partnerships and elevate the Sass Magazine brand.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in event planning, community engagement, or marketing
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, both electronically and on paper
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and in-person, with attention to detail in spelling and grammar
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and subscriber management
  • Passion for community involvement and relationship-building
