11 Must Try Mocktail Recipes

Dry January started as an initiative to help people be more mindful of their alcohol intake. The challenge is to not drink alcohol for the entire month of January and is often used as a New Year’s resolution but it can be difficult to suddenly remove alcoholic drinks from your diet, especially in social situations. That is where mocktails come in. Mocktails give you the yummy, bubbly, and tasty effect of an alcoholic beverage, but without the alcohol. We’ve gathered a list of mocktail recipes perfect for all occasions; from an evening in, to a party or date night, these will be sure to get you through Dry January or, maybe further into the New Year!

Apple Mimosa Mocktail

Apple Mimosa Mocktail Recipe

Ingredients:
½ cup apple cider
½ cup non-alcoholic sparkling wine
Container of caramel sauce
Pinch of cinnamon sugar
Dried apple or cinnamon stick

Directions:
Dip the rim of the glass in caramel sauce and sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top. Pour apple cider and non-alcoholic sparkling wine into the glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or dried apple.

Ingredients:
1 Cup Water
2 tablespoons unfiltered apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
4 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper

Directions:
Combine water, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, honey, fresh ginger, and cayenne pepper in a glass jar. Stir or shake well to mix ingredients

Agua de Fresca (10 Servings)

Agua de Fresca

Ingredients: 
4 cups strawberries, sliced
1 cup white sugar
8 cups cold water, divided
5 cups ice for serving, or as needed
1 lime, cut into 8 wedges
8 fresh mint sprigs

Directions:
Mix together strawberries, sugar, and 1 cup cold water in a medium bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 4 hours. Pour chilled strawberry mixture into a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Pour through a wire mesh strainer set over a large bowl; discard pulp and seeds. Stir the remaining 7 cups cold water into strawberry juice until aqua de fresa is well combined. Fill glasses with ice. Pour aqua de fresa over ice. Garnish each serving with lime wedges and mint leaves

Mimosa Mocktail (1 serving)

Ingredients:
1 cup ice, or as needed
½ cup orange juice 
¼ cup club soda, or to taste
1 teaspoon white sugar

Directions
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice; add orange juice and club soda. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into a chilled champagne flute and stir in sugar. 

Shirley Temple (1 serving)

How to make a Shirley Temple

Ingredients:
Ice to fill your glass
2 tbsp grenadine
1 cup lemon-lime soda or ginger ale
Maraschino cherry (optional)

Directions:
Fill your glass with ice and add grenadine and soda of choice. Mix ingredients and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Mango Mule Mocktail (1 serving)

Mango Mule Mocktail Recipe

Ingredients:
4-5 slices of cucumber
1 oz honey syrup
1.5 oz mango puree
use 1.5 oz fresh lime juice
1.5 oz ginger beer
Ice

Directions: 
Muddle cucumber and honey syrup in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the mango puree and lime juice and shake with ice vigorously. Strain into a copper mug. Top with ginger beer and stir.

Hot Apple Cider Mocktail (1 serving)

Ingredients:
10 oz apple cider
1 tsp pumpkin butter
Pinch of cinnamon
Star anise

Directions:
Heat apple cider and stir in pumpkin butter. Garnish with star anise and cinnamon.

Mojito Mocktail (2 servings)

Ingredients:
1/2 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves plus 2 sprigs, for serving
3 limes, 1 quartered, 2 juiced (about 1/4 cup)
3 ounces nonalcoholic rum (optional)
2 tablespoons light agave syrup
2 cups ice
1/2 cup seltzer or club soda

Directions
Add the mint leaves and lime quarters to a cocktail shaker and muddle with a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon until the mint has released its oils, about 20 seconds. Add the lime juice, nonalcoholic rum ( if using), agave, and ice. Shake vigorously until the strainer starts to develop a frost on the outside. Divide the contents equally between 2 large rocks or high-ball glasses. Fill the glasses with seltzer and serve with a fresh sprig of mint.

Margarita Mocktail (2 servings)

Margarita Mocktail

Ingredients:
2/3 cup fresh lime juice
1/3 cup fresh orange juice 
1/3 cup light agave syrup 
Kosher salt 
1 cup ice cubes 
1 cup chilled lime seltzer 

Directions:
Combine the lime juice, orange juice, and agave in a spouted measuring cup. Pour into a 12-compartment ice cube tray and freeze until solid. Pour the salt into a small dish. Dip the rims of 2 glasses in water, then dip the rims in the salt to coat. Combine the ice cubes, seltzer, and frozen juice cubes in a blender and blend on high until smooth and pourable. Pour into the prepared glasses and serve immediately.

Chocolate Martini Mocktail (1 serving)

Ingredients:
½  cup cold milk
2 tablespoons cup best quality chocolate syrup, plus more for dipping rims
½  tablespoon corn syrup
Crushed ice, as needed
Chocolate sprinkles

Directions:
Combine the milk, 2 tbsp cup chocolate syrup, corn syrup, and crushed ice in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour some of the chocolate syrup onto a small plate and some of the chocolate sprinkles onto another small plate. Dip the rim of each glass in the chocolate syrup and then dip the rim in the chocolate sprinkles. Fill the glass to the top with the chocolate milk mixture.

Cranberry Spritzer (4 servings)

Cranberry Spritzer

Ingredients
12 ice cubes
2 1/2 cups of seltzer
2 cups 100% cranberry juice
use 2 tablespoons honey
1 orange, thinly sliced

Directions:
Place ice cubes into pitcher. Add seltzer. Add 2 cups of cranberry juice to a large pitcher. Mix in 2 tablespoons of honey. Add orange slices and stir to combine.
