Alexandria Women’s History Walk

January 17@12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Alexandria Women’s History Walk is a monthly walking tour presented by Alexandria Celebrates Women, highlighting Alexandria’s heroines of the past. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the series explores the significant roles women played in shaping the city’s history.

The walk takes place on the third Saturday of the month throughout 2026 and is led by Alexandria Celebrates Women Vice President Gayle Converse. Participants take part in a three-mile trek through the city, with brief outdoor stops at historic sites associated with notable women to discuss their contributions and the history of each location.

Selected sites include the Ramsay House, the Carlyle House, City Hall, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, the Kate Waller Barrett House and additional historic locations. The walk begins at the William and Ann Ramsay House, now the Alexandria Visitor Center, at noon. Participants may join for all or part of the walk.

The event is free and open to the public. Comfortable walking shoes and water are recommended.
