Natural Glow Recipes: Boost Collagen & Gut Health

Gut Health Recipes

I love my nightly skincare routine — it helps me wind down at the end of the day and I enjoy tending to my skin. My routine is simple, but consistent. Having a consistent skincare routine is excellent, but if you want to support the health of your skin from all angles, consider incorporating skin-friendly foods into your routine as well. These small additions can help nourish your body and enhance your natural glow, making your skincare efforts even more effective.

These summer-inspired recipes are packed with ingredients that support collagen production and gut health (as there is a significant connection between your gut and skin). Collagen is a protein that serves as one of your skin’s main building blocks. You’ll also find ingredients that help keep you hydrated and promote a natural glow from the inside out.

Gut Health Gummies

Natural Glow Hibiscus Gut Gummies

Hibiscus tea has long been purported to promote the health of our skin and combined with a bit of coconut water for an extra hydrating boost and beef gelatin to support your gut, these grown-up jello bites will help support your own glow-up as well.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups hibiscus tea sweetened to your desired taste (I’d recommend 2-3 tbsp honey)
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • a scant 1/2 cup beef gelatin

Instructions

Step 1: Pour the coconut water into a large bowl and sprinkle the gelatin on top. Stir the gelatin into the coconut water until no lumps remain. You want this to be smooth.

Step 2: While the gelatin ‘blooms,’ gently heat the hibiscus tea in a medium-sized pot (but do not allow it to boil).

Step 3: Once the tea is hot, add the bloomed gelatin to your pot and whisk until the gelatin is dissolved.

Step 4: Pour the liquid into a shallow baking dish and put it in the fridge (for at least four hours or overnight) to set.

Cut into squares once set and store in a closed container in the fridge. Enjoy 2-3 of these skin-loving, and gut health-promoting gummies every day.

*To make hibiscus tea, steep 6-8 hibiscus tea bags in three cups of water for five minutes. Add your desired amount of honey after removing the tea bags.

Caring for your skin isn’t just about what you put on it – it’s also about how you nourish your body from the inside out. By adding these delicious, nutrient-rich recipes to your summer routine, you’re not only treating your taste buds but also giving your skin the support it needs to stay healthy, radiant, and resilient.
