Start With Your Skincare
To ensure your makeup is flawless start with your skincare. If you already have a routine that works for your skin, then do not make any changes to avoid any reactions before your wedding. If starting a new routine, keep in mind that most products need a few weeks to a couple of months before you see true results. The sooner you can start your newer products the better!
Two great product ingredients to add into your routine are vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. Vitamin C is fantastic for keeping your skin looking younger and fresher. These products can help with dark circles or spots and can aid in the production of collagen, reducing the appearance of fine lines. Hyaluronic acid is excellent for creating a nice glow and hydrating the skin. This magical ingredient plumps the skin and protects it from damage caused by the sun, pollutants, and other environmental elements.
Relax and Treat Yourself
Take a little time to relax and treat yourself to a rejuvenating facial. Unless you do your services regularly, schedule this, and any hair removal, about two weeks prior to the big day. This will give possible breakouts ample time to heal. For additional cleansing, witch hazel’s antiseptic properties will soothe and heal acne. Dermaplaning facials are an excellent way to exfoliate your skin and remove dirt, dead skin cells, and the soft, downy hair that can show up when makeup is applied.
Hair & Makeup
Next, schedule your trial hair and makeup appointment.
When going to your trial appointment, be sure to wear a dress or top with a similar neckline as your wedding attire. Take advantage of your trial appointment — plan it for a day when you have an event to test the longevity of the look. Bridal fittings are an excellent choice — that way you can see your whole look together. Other smart options include engagement pictures or a bridal portrait shoot, bridal shower, or even a date night.
Be open and honest with your artist about the look during your trial.
If something is not sitting the way you like or if there is anything you want to change let them know — this is what your trial appointment is for. As cute as that trend looks on social media it may not work for you! So, be open about whether you want to try something else or make a change, it will make a big difference in how you feel about the overall style. Concerned about your look before the trial? Ask if you can come in for a consultation beforehand to ask questions about your ideas.

Your makeup will look different on camera and in different lighting. Take lots of pictures the day of the trial to see how you feel about it throughout the day. Many bridal looks, even “no makeup” looks, can be more makeup than normal wear. Your stylist will likely have several options in finish, style, and color so let them know if you want to try something different.
If you want to make those teeth even more sparkly
Try dentist approved Opalescence Go Whitening Trays. These trays are stronger in hydrogen peroxide, so they work amazingly for brightening. They are very easy to use and stay in place better than strips. Check with your dentist if you have sensitive teeth. Since they work quickly, you can even do this the morning of your big day!
Your Big Day
When the big day finally arrives, take a few extra minutes to prepare. Do a sheet mask or under eye patches the morning of the wedding for an extra boost of radiance. Clean up any stray brow hair first thing as well, so if your skin gets red it has time to calm before you start applying makeup. Take a break to drink water and eat some protein! This will help you look great and feel good when walking down the aisle.
Ask your stylist how they prefer your hair to be prepped for your hair styling. Most stylists will want your hair to be clean and dry — there are lots of products for adding texture and grit as needed so no need for dirty hair. You may even want to get a blow out the day before so your stylist can prep your hair themselves — as a bonus you’ll have beautiful hair for your rehearsal dinner.
Want to look picture perfect all day? Ask if your stylist offers touch ups — which may be an additional charge. If you have a longer time frame from the start of the wedding to the end of the day, this additional service may be worth the investment The best tip is to enjoy your day! It will go by so quickly, but you will have amazing, lovely memories. Have fun on the dance floor!
