Try a new twist on a traditional hot buttered rum recipe — just add ginger and coconut! This amazingly delicious hot ginger and coconut buttered rum cocktail will warm you up on a chilly day. Fireplace optional, but definitely recommended!
To warm up with this hot buttered rum recipe, you’ll first need to make the spiced coconut butter. Next, combine it with some ginger flavored tea, then add the rum. You’ll be feeling toasty in no time!

Spiced Coconut Butter Ingredients
- 1 Cup Coconut Butter, Softened
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Sugar
- 2 Tsp Cinnamon
- 2 Tsp Cardamom
- 1/2 Tsp Nutmeg
- 1/2 Tsp Ginger
- 1/4 Tsp Ground Cloves
- Pinch Of Salt
Recipe Directions
In a small pot, add all of the ingredients and gently warm over medium-low heat. Stir to combine as the coconut butter melts. Do not allow the mix to come to a boil. Remove from heat once coconut butter is melted and other ingredients are mixed in well. Once the coconut butter has cooled slightly, pour into a storage container and keep in the fridge.
Hot Ginger & Coconut Buttered Rum Ingredients
- Ginger Tea
- Spiced Coconut Butter (Recipe Above)
- Dark Rum
First, brew a hot 8 oz cup of your favorite ginger tea (we love Tazo’s ginger tea!). Grab cozy mug, then add 2 tbsp spiced coconut butter and 1.5 oz of rum. Top with the ginger tea and gently stir to combine. Put on your most comfortable loungewear, grab a pair of slippers and your favorite blanket. Then find your favorite holiday movie, and chill. This recipe makes one mug.
