The Red Ryder

As a kid, my mom made my sister and I watch The Christmas Story every year and we hated it. Now, as an adult, I am so happy she did. So I dedicate this cocktail to my mom. This holiday cocktail recipe is named after the Red Ryder BB Gun Ralphie wants for Christmas.

Ingredients

  • Gin (I used Bombay) (1 oz)
  • Pomegranate juice (I used fresh, but you can buy POM) (3oz)
  • Honey (light squeeze)
  • Thyme Simple Syrup (1/2 oz)
    • See recipe below
  • Egg white (1 egg)
  • Orange juice (1 orange)

Directions

  • In a shaker with NO ice (dry shake)
  • Add Honey, squeezed orange juice, egg white, and Gin
  • Put top on and dry shake for about 12 seconds (hold top on tight)
  • Add Thyme simple syrup. pomegranate juice and a handful of ice
  • Shake, shake, shake
  • Pour drink into a coupe glass
  • Garnish with orange peel and thyme sprig
  • Don’t forget to CHEERS!

Based on Clark’s nickname from Ellen in Christmas Vacation. I think I watch this movie about 20 times every holiday season. It is such a classic holiday comedy that never fails to get you in the spirit. Try this holiday cocktail recipe next time you watch it!

Ingredients

Directions

  • Pour vodka, Elderflower liqueur, Grapefruit juice, and rosemary simple syrup in a shaker
  • Add a handful of ice
  • Shake, shake, shake
  • Pour into a martini glass
  • Float your prosecco split on the top
  • Garnish with Rosemary sprig
  • Don’t forget to CHEERS!

How To Make Thyme Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 to 4 thyme sprigs

Directions

  • In a saucepan
  • Add all ingredients to a pan and bring to a boil while stirring
  • The simmer for about 12 min
  • Let cool
  • Put in a jar or container and refrigerate
    Stays good for up to 2 weeks.

How To Make Rosemary Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 to 4 Rosemary sprigs

Directions

  • Put all ingredients in a saucepan and stir till you bring to a boil
  • Turn down flame after boil and let simmer while stirring 12-15 min.
  • Let cool
  • Put in jar/container and refrigerate
    This amount makes up to 5 to 7 cocktails
