Kick-Ass Content Manager for Fast-Growing Women’s Lifestyle Magazine
Sass Magazine, headquartered in Frederick, MD, is a dynamic women’s lifestyle and professional publication that has established itself as both a regional print magazine and a national online media source. Sass Studios, publishers of Sass Magazine, is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Content Manager to join our growing team!
Reporting directly to the founder and owner of Sass Magazine, this role will involve working closely with our writers, advertisers, photographers, and content sources to drive top-notch editorial, digital and social content. This is an ideal position for someone who is both creative and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple deadlines, and thrives on clear communication.
This is a virtual position, so you’ll need your own computer and phone. Candidate must be a self-motivated individual who is hoping to continuously learn on the job, meet new and exciting people, flex your content writing skills, and have opportunities to help lead and grow a woman-owned small business. If you prefer a routine, “clock-in, clock-out” job, this role may not be for you.

The Fine Print:
- Approximately 30 hours per week, with room to expand based on performance.
- On a day-to-day basis this is a WFH position, with a minimal average of 10-15 hours per month spent onsite for meetings and/or events.
- This is a contracted position, so you will need your own computer and phone.
- Experience with social media, copywriting, and/or marketing is recommended.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication Outreach & Content Management:
- Coordinate assignments for writers and photographers, setting clear deadlines and project details.
- Handle scheduling and communication with article sources, writers, and photographers.
- Provide weekly progress reports to the publisher and attend weekly team meetings.
- Oversee the distribution team as needed, ensuring advertisers receive their copies.
- Organize contributor information and coordinate all article and photography submissions.
- Manage website editorial schedule, affiliate partnerships, and digital events calendar.
- Publish web articles with SEO setup and assist with copy editing as needed.
- Manage our robust social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest), creating and repurposing engaging content, including reels, stories and pins.
- Content Creation:
- Participate in bi-monthly content brainstorming sessions with the Sass team.
- Develop editorial calendars and story ideas in collaboration with publisher.
- Write 1-2 articles per issue, plus several online articles each quarter.
- Assist with art direction of photoshoots.
- Develop and send weekly and quarterly newsletters.
- Event Support & Miscellaneous:
- Attend Sass-sponsored events to support promotion and marketing efforts.
- Assist with other administrative projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn, with a positive attitude and a collaborative mindset
- Excellent project management, detail-oriented and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple calendars, editorial schedules, and deadlines using tools like Google Calendar
- Experience with writing, blogging, and editing
- Familiarity with social media management (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) preferred
- Recommended but not required: experience with Tailwind, WordPress, SEO, Google for Business, and CRM systems
- Ability to meet and attend events in Frederick, MD (daytime, evening and weekend events may apply)
