Internship Opportunities

magazine sales associate

We are now accepting applications for our Spring & Summer 2025 internships!

Sass Magazine (Frederick, MD) is a women’s lifestyle and professional magazine in Frederick, Maryland and surrounding regions. Our goal is to empower women in business and life.

We are currently looking for a part-time intern to help with various digitalprint, and event duties. This is an unpaid position for school credit only. It’s a great opportunity for someone interested in getting behind the scenes of a local publication.

Sass internships are filled with detailed educational sessions directly with our owner and publisher, fantastic networking opportunities, writing/editing potential, and an array of other relevant hands-on experiences. This is NOT a coffee-fetching position. We value our interns as an equal part of the Sass team. You will gain first-hand knowledge and experience of what it takes to publish, maintain and grow a small business and magazine publication.

We admire teamwork, attention to detail, efficiency, and above all else, a passion for providing resources to our niche female readership.

If you’d like to apply, please read the position details and responsibilities thoroughly.

What Our Previous Sass Interns Have to Say…

“As the editor in chief of an on-campus fashion and lifestyle magazine at my university, I was super excited for this opportunity to learn the ins and outs of running a successful publication first-hand. I was able to use what I have learned from my personal experience and apply it to a “real world” job! I have gained a plethora of new skills including improving my writing and communication skills. The SASS office is a constant positive environment with never a dull moment! My favorite part about my time with SASS is learning from strong, successful, independent women and hearing their success stories! Interning at such a well-rounded company such as SASS, is an opportunity any young woman should take!”

— Brianna Fay, Sass Summer 2019 Intern

“I’ve had experience with magazine publication on my college campus, but being privy to the workings of a new publication with a high readers base was invaluable to me. I really enjoyed having the freedom to be creative with my pitch ideas, with coordinating sources, and even with my captions for Facebook posts. I always want to learn more about everything there is to be learned, so being able to pick up new skills (such as Photoshop and Mailchimp) was really appreciated. It was such a wide array of experiences, I was never bored; no one day was alike. On top of that, I was able to forge connections with some really down-to-earth, amazing women, which was just awesome in itself alone. Everyone in the office is super friendly and dedicated to their work, and it was great getting to work in tandem with them. 10/10 would recommend to aspiring interns!”

– Maddie Liotta, Sass Summer 2017 intern

“I had not worked for any sort of publication of this type before coming to work for SASS. My experiences were primarily working in the sports information business where Information has to be turned around quickly and accurately with little time for creative input or artistic flavor. Working for SASS has given me a new appreciation for the more personal and innovative approach to journalism and to publications of this type; publications whose sole purpose is to invigorate and stimulate the creative, artistic, and personal attributes of our readers. SASS provided me with the opportunity to broaden my journalistic knowledge and to expand my vision of how publications like SASS can create excitement and a “rebirth of self” in their readers.”
